Cobras Fall to Pioneers in SAC Action

 

GREENVILLE, TENN. – The Coker College softball team dropped both games of its South Atlantic Conference road doubleheader against the Tusculum College Pioneers on Saturday (Apr. 11). The Pioneers won game one 8-0, then turned around to take game two 5-4.

In game one, Ashlee Ellen, Tayler Barcomb, Katelyn Szupello and Corrine Stiles all went 1-for-2 at the plate. Jill Lewis went 1-for-3.

In game two, Szupello and Ellen continued their hot hitting at the plate. Szupello went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs. Ellen went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Ashley Gallman also plated an RBI while going 1-for-2. Riley Morris finished 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and a run scored.

Tabitha Allen took the loss in game one. She gave up five earned runs on 12 hits in four and two-thirds innings. Brittany Long was hit with the loss in game two. She went six innings, scattering nine hits and four earned runs.

The Cobras will finish up their four game road trip tomorrow (Apr. 12) with a SAC doubleheader against Mars Hill. Games are set for a 1 and 3 p.m. start.
