Coker Falls to King in Non-Conference Doubleheader

BRISTOL, TENN. – The Coker College softball team dropped a pair of non-conference road matchups to the King University Tornado on Friday (Apr. 3). King picked up game one by a score of 5-1, then took game two 9-1.

In game one, a three-run sixth inning would be enough for the Tornado to take the eventual 5-1 win. Tayler Barcomb went 1-for-2 with a run scored, while Ashley Gallman and Megan Strickland went 1-for-3.

In game two, eight runs over the first three innings would propel King to the 9-1 victory. Gallman went 1-for-3 again this time with an RBI. Katelyn Szupello also finished the game 1-for-3 at the dish. Tyresha Ellis and Jill Lewis also picked up a hit each.

Tabitha Allen was hit with the loss in game one. She threw a complete game five hitter, only allowing one earned run. Brittany Long was tagged with the loss in game two. She gave up six earned runs on six hits in an inning and a third.

The Cobras will wrap up their four-game road trip tomorrow (Apr. 4) with a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader against the Brevard College Tornados. Games are slated for 1 and 3 p.m. starts.
