Cobras Take on Eagles in SAC Opener

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College softball team will be back in action on Monday (Mar. 16) for their South Atlantic Conference opener against the visiting Carson-Newman University Eagles. Game one of the doubleheader will begin at noon at Saleeby-Stokes softball field. Live stats and video will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras are led offensively by the trio of Riley Morris, Ashley Gallman and Corrine Stiles. Morris is the team leader in batting average (.444), RBIs (22) and home runs (6). All three of those stats are within the top six in the SAC. Gallman is batting .418 and has a team-high nine doubles and .500 on-base percentage. Her OBP is good enough for ninth in the SAC. Corrine Stiles comes in batting .405 on the season.

Tabitha Allen has an 8-7 record on the season with a sizzling 1.22 ERA. She is tied for second in ERA and wins in the SAC.

The Eagles travel to Hartsville with a 15-5 overall record. They are led by Bre Lockett and her conference leading .534 batting average.

Game one is set to begin at noon with game two starting at 2 p.m. at Saleeby-Stokes softball field. Tickets for the game are available at the gate. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students and all Coker faculty, staff and students get in free.
