Coker Softball Splits Doubleheader Against Saints

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College softball team split its non-conference doubleheader on Saturday (Feb. 28) against the visiting Limestone College Saints. Coker would pick up 4-1 victory in game one. The Saints would take game two, 5-2.

In game one, Tyresha Ellis led the Coker offense by going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Ashlee Ellen would also pick up two hits and plated an RBI. Megan Strickland drove in the other RBI, while Ashley Gallman finished game one with two hits as well.

In game two, Riley Morris continued her hot play at the plate going 2-for-3, while Ellen and Katelyn Szupello each drove in a run.

Tabitha Allen (4-4) got the win in game one. She threw a complete game, only allowing six hits and one run while fanning three batters.

Brittany Long (1-1) would be tagged with the loss in game two. She gave up four hits and three runs in four and two-thirds innings.

The Cobras will have a quick turnaround as they will be back on the field Sunday morning (Mar. 1) for another non-conference doubleheader against the Golden Bears of West Virginia University Institute of Technology. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. with game two beginning at 1 p.m.
