Cobras Open 2015 with 5-4 Win Over Kutztown

PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Coker College softball team picked up a 5-4 victory over Kutztown on Friday (Feb. 6) in game one of the UNC Pembroke Invitational.

The Coker offense was led by the trio of Tayler Barcomb, Ashley Gallman and Megan Strickland. Barcomb started her season off with a bang, going 1-for-3 at the plate including a three-run homerun in the top of the fourth inning. Gallman also went 1-for-3, including a solo homerun in the top of the second inning. She also scored two runs. Strickland led Coker with two hits including a solo home run of her own in the top of the sixth inning.

Tabitha Allen (1-0) picked up the win going all seven innings, giving up six hits, four runs and recording one strikeout.

Game number two for Coker is set to begin at 8 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 6) as they will take on Pfeiffer.
