Cobras Hoping to Derail Hilltoppers

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker Softball team will host West Liberty on Thursday (Mar. 7) in a non-conference double-header competition. Live video broadcast of the game will be available at www.cokercobras.com.
Coker is coming off a two game sweep against North Greenville on Tuesday (Mar. 5), and will be looking to push the momentum into Thursday's game.
Senior outfielder Sarah Rountree is leading the Cobras at the plate with a batting average of .379. Rountree has collected 11-hits on the year, that includes two doubles, three RBIs, and six runs scored. Katelyn Szupello and Jaclin Poole have also had success at the plate with averages of .348 and .324.
Coker's pitching continues to be strong, only allowing two runs scored in the last six games. Lauren Phillips leads the crew with 20-strikeouts, along with the lowest ERA of 1.38. Breanna Skipper has also been impressive with her 13-strikeouts on the year, and only giving up seven runs all season. Skipper has an ERA of 1.45.
West Liberty is 0-2 on the year after losing their first game 4-6 to Mansfield University and 2-10 to California University of Pennsylvania.
The Hilltoppers are led by Maggie Starr and Felicia Hulslander, who are both batting .333 on the year.
Game time is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time, followed by the second game of the double-header at 3:00 p.m.
