Cobras Win Five-Set Thriller Over Battlers

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker College men's volleyball team squared off against Alderson Broaddus on Saturday (Mar. 17) afternoon. The Cobras and Battlers went to five sets, with Coker ultimately prevailing 3-2 (23-25, 25-16, 26-24, 21-25, 15-11).

Two Cobras posted double-doubles and three reached double-digit kills. Joao Victor Santos finished with a match-high 24 kills, along with two aces, eight digs, and seven total blocks (one solo and six assisted). Stephen Porras collected 16 kills and 10 digs for his afternoon, adding three service aces, two solo blocks, and three block assists. Gabriel Castro had 15 kills, one assist, two aces, six digs, and a block assist. Parker Oldham hit .444 in the match with four kills, an ace, six digs, and a block assist. Gary Baker added six assists, an ace, 10 digs and one block assist. Aleksa Bijelic earned his double-double with 48 assists and 13 digs to go alongside a kill and two block assists.

The team tied the Coker record of blocks in a game with 17 in their performance against Alderson Broaddus. They ended with three solo blocks and 14 assisted.

The Navy and Gold return to the court on Tuesday (Mar. 20) at 7:00 p.m., hosting the Barton College Bulldogs.
