Santos Earns Off the Block Independent Teams Player of the Week Honors

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Off the Block announced on Monday (Feb. 19) that Coker men's volleyball Joao Victor Santos was named Independent Teams Player of the Week.

Santos finished with both a match-high 18 kills on a .353 attack percentage and five blocks as Coker swept Limestone on Friday (Feb. 16). The junior also led all players with 16 kills in a three-game loss to Mount Olive on Tuesday (Feb. 13) and has double-digit kills in four straight matches.

On the season, Santos has totalled 108 kills, a .346 hitting percentage, 14 service aces, 28 digs, and 24 total blocks.

Thus far in his career, he ranks ranks third all-time at Coker in kills (581), eighth in digs (197), fourth with 62 aces, sixth in block assists (75), and seventh in solo blocks (24).

The Independent Teams Player of the Week recognizes the best player during the week from NCAA Division I-II men's volleyball teams that are competing without a conference affiliation. The four independent teams this season are Alderson Broaddus, Coker, Lincoln Memorial and Queens.

Off the Block determines the Independent Teams Player of the Week based on a variety of factors, including a player's individual performance and how a player's team fared during the week.
