Cobras Host Alderson Broaddus in Friday Night Match

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's volleyball team will host the Alderson Broaddus Battlers on Friday (Mar. 24) night in the DeLoach Center. First serve is set for 7 p.m. Live stats and video can be found at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras and Battlers met earlier this season on Feb. 11 when Coker came away with a 3-2 victory at Alderson Broaddus. Joao Victor Santos led the Cobra attack during the match with a team-leading 26 kills, the second highest mark in program history. On the defensive end of the ball, the Navy and Gold received a standout performance from Devion Whetstone who collected a team-best six total blocks. Justin Glader led the Battler offense with 20 kills. 

Coker heads into tomorrow night's match with a 9-8 overall record. Leading the way offensively for the Cobras throughout the 2017 campaign is Joao Victor Santos with 177 kills. Aleksa Bijelic has been another important factor to the Navy and Gold's offense by dishing out a team-high 421 assists. On the defensive end of the ball, Devion Whetstone has created problems for the opposition's offense by laying down 35 total blocks. Gary Baker has also been an important piece to Coker's defense with a team-best 104 digs.

Alderson Broaddus comes into tomorrow's match with a 4-13 overall record. Obenda Besongngem leads the Battlers offense with 173 kills. Defensively, Alderson Broaddus leans on Myles Miller (74 total blocks) and Timothy McIntosh (127 digs).

Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
