Coker Men's Volleyball Splits Tri-Match at Barton

WILSON, N.C. – The Coker Cobra men's volleyball team split its two matches at Barton College on Saturday (Apr. 4). The Cobras won their first match of the day against the University of Charleston 3-1, but lost the second match of the day to Barton 3-1.

Against Charleston the Cobras were on fire offensively with a blistering .359 hitting percentage and 41 total kills. Artur Cabral and Leshon Alexander led the attack with 12 and eight kills, respectively. Aleksa Bijelic dished out 28 assists and Jesse Day picked up nine digs.

The match against Barton was one of the most tightly contested matches in Coker men's volleyball history as each set was decided by just two points. Coker dropped the first set 26-24, but bounced back with a 26-24 victory of its own in the second set. Barton went on to win the next two sets with scores of 29-27 and 25-23.

Cabral led the charge on offense once again for the Cobras with a match-high 23 kills and seven digs. Luke Hansen added a double-double of 14 kills and 12 digs, while Alexander put home another eight kills

The Cobras will return to the court on Saturday (Apr. 11) when they hit the road to King University for their final two matches of the season. They will take on King at noon, followed by a match against Alderson-Broaddus at 3 p.m.
