Cobras Pick Up Second Straight Win Over Royals

HARTSVILLE, S.C. –The Coker men's volleyball team picked up a 3-1 win over the Warner University Royals on Friday (Mar. 27) night.

The Cobras would get off to a shaky start, dropping set one 25-19 to the Royals. Coker quickly knotted the game up at 1-all with a 25-19 set win in the second frame of action. The third set would be a slugfest between the Cobras and Royal, which eventually led to a 24-all stalemate. Jared Geizer would break the tie and give Coker a 25-24 lead and Artur Cabral would seal the 26-24 set victory with a monster service ace. The fourth set would mirror the third and led to another stalemate at 20-all. The Cobras would use its momentum from the previous sets and go on a 5-0 run to close out the set 25-20 and win the match 3-1.

Cabral finished the game with 14 kills, seven blocks and six digs to lead the Cobras. Luke Hansen added eight kills and five digs, while Luke Grupe knocked home seven kills. Aleksa Bijelic paced the offense and defense with a double-double performance of 30 assists and 10 digs.

The Cobras will make a quick turnaround and take on the Rams of Bluefield College on Saturday (Mar. 28) at noon and face the Royals once again at 4 p.m.
