Cobras Drop Heartbreaker to Tornado in Five

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's volleyball team suffered a tough 3-2 loss to the King College Tornado on Wednesday (Mar. 11) afternoon.

After falling in sets one and two with identical scores of 25-20, the Cobras went on the attack and captured set three 25-22. The Cobras would continue the offensive surge by taking set four 25-23 to force a fifth and final set. In a tightly contested fifth set that saw back and forth action, the Tornado would squeak out a 15-12 set victory and 3-2 match win.

Artur Cabral led the Cobra attack with 17 kills, while Aaron Wendels and Luke Hansen each added 12 kills apiece. Jay Fisher paced the offense with 42 assists and added nine digs. Liam Flaherty dug 13 balls and dished out five assists to lead the Cobra defense.

The Cobras will hit the road for a doubleheader against Charleston (W.V.) and Belmont Abbey on Friday (Mar. 13). Match one against Charleston will take place at 11 a.m., while match two is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
