Record Day Gives Cobras 3-0 Win Over Golden Eagles

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's volleyball team picked up a convincing 3-0 victory against the Golden Eagles of University of Charleston (W.V.) on Saturday (Feb. 7) morning.

Coker would come out on fire, using solid blocking and timely attacks to capture a commanding 25-14 set one victory. Set two would see the Golden Eagles come out competitive, but the Cobras would use a late surge to take the set 25-20. The Navy and Yellow would use the momentum from sets one and two to roll the Golden Eagles, 25-15, in set three and take the match 3-0.

Luke Hansen led the Cobras with a record-setting performance of five service aces to go along with his five kills and four digs. Artur Cabral knocked home eight kills and added six digs and three blocks, while Leshon Alexander tallied seven kills and five blocks. Aleksa Bijelic paced the offense with 26 assists and Gary Baker led the defense with eight digs.

As a team, the Cobras set the single-match record for total blocks, finishing the match with 17.

Coker will be back in action later today (Feb. 7) when they host the Battlers of Alderson Broaddus University. First serve is slated for 3 p.m.
