Cobras Drop Match to Flying Fleet

DUE WEST, S.C. – The Coker men's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 matchup with former Conference Carolinas foe Erskine College on Tuesday (Feb. 3) night.

Set one would come down to the wire, as the two teams stayed within a point of one another the entire set. With the match knotted at 23-all, the Flying Fleet would put together a 2-0 run to take set one 25-23.

The Navy and Yellow would fall behind 8-3 early on in the second set, but solid hitting by Coker and errors by Erskine would lead to a 15-15 tie. The two teams would trade points back and forth with Coker eventually pulling away late and notching a 25-21 set victory.

Erskine would take a tightly contested third set, 25-23 and use that momentum to capture set four 25-22 and the match 3-1.

Artur Cabral led the way for the Coker with 18 kills, six digs, four aces and three blocks. Luke Hansen chipped in seven kills, while Leshon Alexander and Jared Geizer added four kills apiece. Aleksa Bijelic paced the offense with 30 assists and Liam Flaherty led the defense with seven digs.

The Cobras will make their way back home for some doubleheader action against the University of Charleston (W.V.) Golden Eagles and the Alderson Broaddus University Battlers on Saturday (Feb. 7).
