Crusaders Sneak Past Cobras for 3-2 Victory

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's volleyball team dropped a 3-2 match to the Crusaders of North Greenville University on Friday (Jan. 23) night.

The Cobras would drop a tightly contested first set, 25-23, but would even the match 1-1 with a 25-22 victory in the second set. Coker would carry that momentum into set three, picking up a 25-19 victory. However, the Crusaders would not go away quietly, forcing a fifth set with a 25-16 fourth set victory. Coker and North Greenville would battle early in the fifth set, but the Crusaders would pull away late to win the set 15-10 and match 3-2.

Artur Cabral led the Cobra offense with a double-double performance of 16 kills and 10 digs to go along with three service aces. Luke Hansen added 16 kills, eight digs and six blocks, while Jesse Day added eight digs of his own. Aleksa Bijelic paced the offense with 33 assists.

The Navy and Yellow will take a short break and make its home debut next Thursday (Jan. 29) against the New Jersey Institute of Technology. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start in Coker's brand new DeLoach Center.
