Cobras Close Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium in Style

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's volleyball team closed the doors of the illustrious Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium in style as it beat the Bulldogs of Barton College 3-0 on Tuesday (Mar. 25). The win gives the Cobras four in their last five outings.

The Navy and Yellow wasted no time setting the tone of the match by rolling the Bulldogs in set one, 25-17. Coker would jump out to a 2-0 match lead using solid defense and clutch hitting to capture a 25-20 victory in the hard-fought second set. The match domination by the Cobras would continue in the third set as they cruised to an easy 25-18 set win to take the match 3-0.

Leading Coker was lone senior Ricardo Ferrer, Jared Geizer and Leshon Alexander. In his last home match as a Cobra, Ferrer had a game-high 32 assists to go along with seven digs, four kills, two blocks and two services aces. Geizer and Alexander led the Cobra attack with 12 and 11 kills, respectively, while Artur Cabral knocked home eight kills of his own.

The Navy and Yellow will be back in action on Thursday (Mar. 27) when it travels to Due West, S.C. to battle with the Flying Fleet of Erskine College. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
