Cobras Split Final Day of Coker Invitational

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's volleyball team wrapped up the Coker Volleyball Invitational Tournament by dropping a 3-0 match to Emmanuel (Ga.) College, before capturing a 3-1 win over Alderson-Broaddus University on Sunday (Mar. 16).

In match one the tempo was controlled early by Emmanuel as they took the first two sets with identical scores of 25-14. Set three would be far more competitive, but the Lions would take the set 25-21 to capture the game 3-0.

Coker was led offensively by Artur Cabral and his nine kills. Ricardo Ferrer handed out 18 assists to set the attack for the Cobras.

Match two would be more generous to the Navy and Yellow as they rolled over Alderson-Broaddus 25-14 in set one. The Battlers would bounce back in set two and pick up a tightly contested 25-21 victory. The Cobras would not be phased by set two as they took the final two sets 25-20 and 25-18, respectively, to win the match 3-1.

Leading Coker offensively was Jared Geizer with 14 kills, seven digs and three service aces. Liam Flaherty knocked home 11 kills with a service ace and two digs, while Cabral continued his solid day with 10 kills and three service aces. Will Brewer led the defense with 10 digs and Ferrer had 44 assists and a team-high four service aces.
