HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match to former Conference Carolinas foe University of Mount Olive on Saturday (Mar. 15) in men's collegiate volleyball action.

The Cobras jumped out to an early one-set lead taking the tightly contested first set 27-25. The Navy and Yellow would use the momentum from the first set to jump out to a 12-4 lead in the second. However, the Trojans would answer with an 8-0 run to knot the set at 12-all. The set would continue with back-and-forth scoring. The Trojans would ultimately take the set 25-23.

With the momentum on their side, Mount Olive would swipe set three from Coker 25-18. The Cobras mounted a comeback in the fourth set, getting the score to within two at 23-21. The Trojans used timely hitting to take the set 25-22 and ultimately the match 3-1.

Leading Coker offensively was Jared Geizer with nine kills, six digs and four blocks. Leshon Alexander and Luke Hansen also registered eight kills apiece. Ricardo Ferrer had a double-double as he set the Cobra attack and headed the defense by handing out 33 assists and digging 15 balls on the day.

Coker will be back on the court tomorrow (Mar. 16) for day two of the Coker Volleyball Invitational Tournament when they take on Emmanuel (Ga.) College at 11 a.m., followed by Alderson-Broaddus University at 1 p.m.
