Coker Men's Volleyball to Host Five-Team, Two-Day Tornament

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's volleyball team will host a round-robin tournament on Saturday (Mar. 1) and Sunday (Mar. 2). Lees-McRae College, Erskine College, Sacred Heart University and Pfeiffer University are all scheduled to compete. The Cobras will play four games over the two-day tournament and open up with Lees-McRae on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium with live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.

Coker has been led all season by Jared Geizer and his 128 kills. Luke Hansen has also been an offensive weapon for the Navy and Yellow with 112 kills and eight service aces. Leshon Alexander's 41 blocks and Ricardo Ferrer's 101 digs lead Coker defensively, while Ferrer's 534 assists and 15 service aces are also tops on the team.

Lees-McRae is 10-5 overall, but only 4-5 on the road this season. The Bobcats are led by the 199 and 192 kills of Matt Harpenau and Brady Markle, respectively.

Erskine enters the tournament 8-5 overall and winners of their last won games. Michael Michelau leads the Flying Fleet with 201 kills, while Roberto Perez vargas and Mike Kawa have tallied 132 and 128 kills of their own, respectively.

Sacred Heart comes to Hartsville on a two-game skid and 5-8 overall record. The Pioneers rely on the offensive play of Brad Borsay and Austin Arcala. The duo has combined for 252 kills on the season.

The Falcons are 6-7 overall, but come into the tournament winners of their most previous match and are led by Sonny Hirini and his 185 kills.

Tickets for Saturday and Sunday's matches can be purchased at the door for $5 dollars for adults, $3 dollars for students, and are free to all Coker students, faculty, and staff.
