Cobras Unable to Pick Up Win Against Former Conference Foe

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Coker men's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match to former Conference Carolinas foe Pfeiffer University on Tuesday (Feb. 18) in men's collegiate volleyball action.

The Cobras jumped out to an early 15-7 lead in the first set, but the Falcons would use a 7-3 run to trim Coker's lead to four late in the set. The Navy and Yellow's hot start would be the deciding factor in the first set as they pulled out a 25-21 win. Set two would be competitive from start to finish as the two teams traded blows all the way to a 21-21 tie, however, Pfeiffer would manufacture a 4-0 run to take the set 25-21.

The Cobras would fight hard in sets three and four, but the Falcons attack would be too much for the Navy and Yellow. Pfeiffer captured sets three and four 25-15 and 25-17, respectively, to take home the 3-1 victory.

Leading the attack for Coker was Leshon Alexander and Luke Hansen with nine kills apiece. Alexander also registered two digs and a team-high eight blocks, while Hansen dug a team-high five balls. Ricardo Ferrer dished out a team-high 28 assists and added five digs on the night.

The Cobras will head to Barton College this Saturday (Feb. 22) for a tri-match with the host Bulldogs and the Hawks of Quincy University. Game one is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start, followed by game two at 2 p.m.
