Cobras Split Day Two of Lindenwood Classic

ST. CHARLES, MO. – The Coker men's volleyball team went 1-1 on the final day of the Lindenwood Classic. The navy and yellow opened the day with a 3-1 victory against Quincy University before dropping the final match of the tournament 3-0 to host Lindenwood University.

In match one the Cobras would control the match from the start taking set one 25-20. However, Coker would hit a bump in the road when they dropped set two 25-22, but the Cobras would recover and take sets three and four 25-21 and 25-20, respectively.

Jared Geizer knocked home a match-high 15 kills and added six digs to lead the Cobras. Leshon Alexander and Luke Hansen registered 12 kills apiece, while Hansen added a team-high 10 digs to earn the only double-double of the match. Ricardo Ferrer just missed out on a double-double as he dished out a team-high 42 assists and tallied nine digs for the Cobras.

match two would prove to be more of a challenge for the Cobras as the Lions controlled the tempo from start to finish. The Cobras fell behind early in the first set, but would battle back to make the score 20-24. However, Lindenwood would get a timely kill and take the set 25-20. Lindenwood would win sets two and three 25-17 and 25-18, respectively, ending play for the Cobras at the Lindenwood Classic.

Hansen led the offense with seven kills and five digs, while Geizer also hit home seven kills with one service ace. Ferrer set the attack and led the defense with a team-high 20 assists and seven digs.

The Cobras will be back on the road next Tuesday (Feb. 4) night when they travel to Mount Olive to face the Trojans. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
