Cobras Down Mars Hill 5-2, Secure Spot in South Atlantic Conference Championships

MARS HILL, N.C. -- The Coker College men's tennis team defeated Mars Hill 5-2 in South Atlantic Conference action on Thursday (Apr. 11). The win secures the Cobras a spot in next week's South Atlantic Conference championships.

The Cobras began the day by taking all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. Melwin Krall and Hunter Horton won 6-2 in #1 doubles, Justus Lehmann and Isaac MacMillan won 6-4 in #2 doubles, and Pablo Gonzalo-Saul and Walker Long won 6-4 in #3 doubles.

Horton, Lehmann, MacMillan, and Gonzalo Saul followed up their doubles victories with singles victories as well. Horton won 6-2, 6-3 in #2 singles while Lehmann enjoyed a 6-4, 6-4 victory in #3 singles.

Pablo Gonzalo-Saul continued his impressive freshman season, improving to 10-7 overall, and 6-4 in conference play with a 6-2, 6-3 victory in #5 singles, and Isaac MacMillan won 6-4, 6-4 in #4 singles for the fifth and final point.

The Cobras will be back in action next week when they travel to Rock Hill, S.C. for the South Atlantic Conference championships.
