Horton Wins Thriller, Coker Men's Tennis Defeats Newberry 5-2

HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- The Coker College men's tennis team defeated Newberry 5-2 in South Atlantic Conference action on Tuesday (Mar. 19).

The Cobras swept all three doubles matches to gain the doubles point, and then won four of the six singles matches to round out the victory.

Hunter Horton came through with a dramatic 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 win in #2 singles, fighting off five match points on his way to victory. Pablo Gonzalo-Saul sealed the team victory with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win in his #6 singles match. Gonzalo-Saul improved to 6-4 in singles play on the season with the victory.

Max Sturgess won his #4 singles match 6-3, 6-1, and Isaac MacMillan won in #5 singles 7-5, 6-3.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday when they host Carson-Newman in another slate of South Atlantic Conference matches beginning at 11 a.m.
