Men’s Tennis Travels to No. 15 Queens for SAC Championship Quarterfinals

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The eighth seeded Coker College men's tennis team (11-10 overall) will travel to the No. 1 seed and 15th ranked team in the country, the Queens University Royals on Wednesday (Apr. 18) afternoon for the South Atlantic Conference Championship quarterfinals at 2 p.m. The Cobras make a return to the SAC Championships since qualifying back in the 2015-16 season.

The Cobras and Royals previously met back on Mar. 29, where Queens took an 8-1 victory over Coker. Mark Watt recorded the Cobras lone victory with a gritty 7-6, 7-6 decision at No. 1 singles.

Heading into tomorrow's match, Watt and Justus Lehman lead the Navy and Gold in singles play. Watt currently holds an impressive 16-5 record at the No. 1 position, while Lehman boasts a team-best 16-3 record, collecting 11 wins at the No. 5 spot and five wins at No. 6 singles. Lehman has also dominated SAC play with an 8-1 record in conference action. In addition, Hunter Horton has earned an 11-10 record at No. 2 singles.

In doubles play, Horton and Lehman have recorded a team-best 13-7 record at No. 2 doubles. Felix Schweyer and Dominic Allan have posted a 10-5 record at No. 3 doubles, while Hellbe and Watt sport a 12-8 record at the No. 1 slot.

Queens enters tomorrow's match with an 11-3 overall record, which includes a 9-1 mark in SAC play.

As mentioned, opening serve is set for 2 p.m. at Queens University.
