Men’s Tennis Ranked 46th in Latest Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Division II National Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and Oracle unveiled the latest Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Division II National Rankings on Wednesday and the Coker College men's tennis team came in at 46th in the nation. This is the first time the Cobras cracked the top 50 since the 2014 season.

The computerized rankings publish the Top 50 men's and women's tennis teams. ITA member coaches have access to the unpublished rankings (teams outside the Top 50). Prior to the shift to computerized rankings, a national rankings panel voted on the Top 25 teams.

The Cobras have started the year strong and currently boast an 8-4 overall record with a 1-0 mark in South Atlantic Conference play. Halfway through the season, the Cobras signature win is a 5-4 triumph over No. 42 Tusculum back on Mar. 10.

Mark Watt and Justus Lehman have led the Navy and Gold in singles play thus far. Watt currently holds an impressive 10-2 record at the No. 1 position and Lehman boasts a 9-2 record, collecting six wins at the No. 5 spot and three wins at No. 6 singles. In addition, Hunter Horton has earned an 8-4 record at No. 2 singles and Dominic Allan has posted a 4-4 record competing in the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 slots. Felix Schweyer currently holds a 6-6 mark at No. 3 singles.

In doubles play, Horton and Lehman have recorded a team-best 9-3 record at No. 2 doubles. Schweyer and Allan is the other Coker duo with a winning record in doubles play, posting a 6-3 record at No. 3 doubles. Additionally, Watt and Henrik Hellbe currently have a 6-6 mark at No. 1 doubles.

National rankings will be released every Wednesday for the remainder of the 2018 season.
