Cobras Slay Dragons in Non-Conference Play

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Coker College men's tennis team slayed the Tiffin University Dragons 6-3 Wednesday (Mar. 7) afternoon in non-conference play. The Cobras improved to 7-3 on the season with the victory.

The Navy and Gold began the match by taking two of the three doubles matches. First, the duo of Hunter Horton and Justus Lehman recorded an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles to improve to a team-best 8-2 in doubles action. Next, the tandem of Felix Schweyer and Dominic Allan grinded out a 9-8 victory at No. 3 doubles.

In singles action, Mark Watt earned a 6-0, 7-6 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Horton cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles. At the No. 5 spot, Henrik Hellbe worked for a 4-6, 7-6, 10-8 victory and Lehman picked up a 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles. Watt improved to a team-best 9-1 and Lehman upgraded his record to 7-2 in singles action.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Mar. 10) when they open up South Atlantic Conference play by hosting Tusculum at 1 p.m. at the Coker Tennis Courts.
