Cobras Fall Short of Playoff Berth with 5-4 Loss to Wolves

HARTSVILLE, S.C. –The Coker men's tennis team fell 5-4 in South Atlantic Conference action to the Newberry College Wolves on Saturday (Apr. 11) afternoon.

The Cobras would trail 2-1 after the doubles portion of play behind an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles by William Marrafao and Dominic Allan.

Needing to win the match to qualify for the SAC Tennis Championship, the Cobras would mount a comeback in singles play. Marrafao would notch a tough 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, while Mark Watt came away with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles. Coker's comeback would stay alive with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-0) Felix Schweyer's win at No. 4 singles. However, the Cobras would fall just short of the win and lose 5-4.

The Navy and Yellow's 2015 season comes to a close with a 6-13 overall record and 4-7 mark in South Atlantic Conference play.
