No. 33 Coker Closes Regular Season with 8-1 Victory Over Brevard

BREVARD, N.C. – The No. 33 nationally ranked Coker men's tennis team closed out its regular season with an 8-1 win over the Tornados of Brevard College on Saturday (Apr. 12) in South Atlantic Conference action.

The Navy and Yellow picked up three wins in the doubles portion of play with scores of 8-3, 8-0 and 8-2 at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Andre Staab and William Marrafao picked up Coker's toughest wins of the day with scores of 7-5, 4-6, 11-9 and 6-4, 1-6, 11-7 at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Tom Sizeland took care of business at No. 2 singles with a straight-set 6-1, 6-1 win, while James Corfield notched a 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 4 singles. Rounding out the wins for the Navy and Yellow was Martin Moncayo at No. 5 singles with a 6-4, 6-0 straight-set win.

The next time the Cobras take the courts will be at the 2014 Food Lion SAC Men's Tennis Championship. Coker will take on the Newberry College Wolves in the quarterfinals on Wednesday (Apr. 16).
