Provenzano and Falo-Ejea named SAC Players of the Week

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Men's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played between Sept. 23 and Sept. 29. Coker midfielder Christian Provenzano was named the offensive player of the week, while fellow Cobra and goalkeeper Guilermo Falo Ejea was named defensive player of the week.

Provenzano, a junior from Bonassola, Italy, provided the offensive fire power for the Cobras, as they went 2-0 last week. He netted the game-winning goal for Coker in the 1-0 win over nationally ranked No. 16 Lander. He also scored a goal and had an assist in the Cobras' 3-0 win over Mars Hill in SAC action. For the week he scored two goals with an assist and five points. This is Provenzano's first offensive player of the week accolade of the season.

Falo-Ejea, a junior from Aragon, Spain, led the Cobras to a pair of shutout victories last week, including a 1-0 win over nationally ranked No. 16 Lander. He made five saves against Lander, and made another save against Mars Hill. For the week he did not allow a goal and had six saves in 180 minutes between the pipes. This is Falo-Ejea's first defensive player of the week honor of the year.

"Christian and Guilermo fully deserve this recognition," said coach Michael Antoniewicz. "While they had great individual performances, this award speaks to how far we have come as a team this season. I am proud of each and every player."

The Cobras return to action on Wednesday (Oct. 2) as they will travel to Anderson, S.C. to take on fellow South Atlantic Conference opponent, the Anderson University Trojans. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
