Cobras Drop Overtime Thriller to Anderson

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College men's soccer team fell at home on Wednesday (Oct. 24) to Anderson 2-1 in the first overtime period.

The Cobras found themselves out in front early after winning a penalty kick just three minutes from the half. Robbie Jenkinson stepped up for the spot kick, but his effort was parried right back to his feet. Jenkinson would not miss with his second chance, though, firing the Cobras into the lead heading into the half.

The Coker lead would not last long as Anderson found an equalizer in the 54th minute. Following a physical 90 minutes of play, the teams remained level and needed overtime to settle it. It looked as if the game would be headed for a second overtime period when Anderson grabbed the golden goal in the 98th minute to walk away victorious.

Jenkinson was the standout performer with three shots, and two on goal. Joao Silva also recorded a shot in the match. In goal, Justin Watkins recorded a trio of saves.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Oct. 27) when Tusculum comes to Hartsville for Senior, with the match starting at 3:30 PM.
