Cobras Play to Scoreless 2OT Draw Against Railsplitters

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – 110 minutes was not enough time to decide a winner as the Coker College men's soccer team played to a scoreless double-overtime draw on Saturday (Oct. 14) afternoon against the Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters.

Both squads had plenty of opportunities in the first half of play as Lincoln Memorial recorded 10 shots with the Cobras firing off six. However, both goalkeepers came up with excellent saves throughout the half.

The remainder of the game was similar to the first half, with both teams receiving chances. Once again, stellar defensive play was displayed for the remainder of the match as the contest finished in a scoreless draw.

Jacob Simonis led the way offensively for the Navy and Gold recording four shots with two of them on goal. Other Cobras delivering shots were Robbie Jenkinson (3), Joao Silva (3), Chris Bordelon (2), Matt Trimby (2), Federico Scaglioni (2), and Aladdin Elfares (1). In goal, Justin Walker highlighted an excellent night by accumulating five saves.

The Cobras will be back in action on Wednesday (Oct. 18) when they travel to Lenoir-Rhyne to take on the Bears at 7 p.m.
