Cobras Earn 3-1 Victory in Weekend SAC Match at Tusculum

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The visiting Coker College men's soccer team earned a 3-1 South Atlantic Conference victory over the Tusculum College Pioneers behind goals from Matt Trimby, Aladdin Elfares, and Quadarius Grate on Sunday (Oct. 8) afternoon. 

The Pioneers scored the lone goal in the first half and the Cobras headed into halftime trailing Tusculum 1-0. 

In the second half of play, Coker found their offensive groove scoring three consecutive goals for the 3-1 victory. Trimby began the second half onslaught by placing a header past the Tusculum goalkeeper in the 53rd minute. Steffen Husum was credited with the assist on a well-placed corner kick. 

Next, the Cobras tacked on their second goal of the evening just ten minutes later, when Attiyyah Shakir sent a pass from the defensive end to Elfares, who buried his shot into the back of the net for his fourth score of the season. Finally, Coker added their third and final goal of the contest in the 82nd minute from Grate. 

In goal, Justin Walker collected a season best eight saves. 

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Oct. 14) when they host Lincoln Memorial at 2 p.m.
