HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College head men's soccer coach Chris Williams announced the addition of Sam Carballo and Ashton Newman to the 2017-18 roster.

Carballo attends West Seattle High School, where he is a member of the soccer team for the Wildcats. Carballo, a goalkeeper, is a two-time first team All-Seamount selection. On his club team, Pac NW, he has helped guide them to state, regional and national cup titles in 2015. In the classroom, he was a member of the honor roll with a 3.5 GPA.

He is the son of Jennifer Gombas and Rodrigo Carballo and plans on studying computer science.

Newman attends Socastee High School, where is a member of the soccer team for the Braves. Newman, a defender from Myrtle Beach, S.C., was named the 5A defensive player of the year and was voted first team all-region. He was a state cup champion with his club team, Coast FA. Off the pitch, he was a member of the honor roll.

He is the son of Kamishun and Ozell Newman and plans on studying biology.
