Cobras and Bulldogs to Battle in SAC Quarterfinal Match

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The No. 8 seed Coker men's soccer team will begin its quest for a South Atlantic Conference tournament title on the road against the No. 1 seed Bulldogs of Wingate University on Tuesday (Nov. 4). The quarterfinal match is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start, with live stats and video at www.cokercobras.com.

Coker picked up an impressive 3-2 double-overtime win over Brevard College in its most recent match. AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the week, Connor Norton-Baker, scored both the tying and game-winning goals for the Cobras, while Noah Gulley added the Coker's third goal against Brevard.

The Cobras have been led all season by playmaker Jordan Snell. The senior midfielder leads the team in goals and points with six goals and 15 points. Sophomore forward Norton-Baker follows close behind with four goals and two assists for 10 points, while Kyndle Cobb anchors the defense. The sophomore goalkeeper has a 1.36 goals against average with 69 saves and two shutouts.

The Bulldogs enter the match with an 11-3-1 overall record and an 8-2-1 conference mark. Wingate has won four of its last five matches, and are led offensively by Charlie Machell's 11 goals and three assists.

Coker and Wingate battled to a 0-0 double-overtime draw back on Oct. 8.

The winner of match will advance to the semifinals of the SAC Men's Soccer Championship against the winner of the match between the No. 4 seed Lenoir-Rhyne and the No. 5 seed Anderson. The semifinal match will be played at 7 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 7) at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C.
