Cobras Overthrow the Royals 5-1

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Chris Martin picked up his first hat trick of the season with three goals and an assist in the Coker's 5-1 win over the Queens University of Charlotte Royals on Saturday (Sept. 27) in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action.

In addition to Martin's offensive outburst, Jordan Snell added to his league leading point and goal total by scoring two goals and adding an assist. Tony Quiroz also dished out two assists and Connor Norton-Baker had a single assist.

Martin got the Cobras on the board extremely early as he put the opening goal in the back of the net just 17 seconds into the match. Eight minutes later the Royals scored their lone goal to tie the match at one. Martin did not let the game stay tied for long, as he scored his second goal less than a minute later. In the 20th minute of action Snell gave the Cobras a two-goal lead with his first goal of the match. The score remained 3-1 heading into halftime.

In the second half, Martin recorded the hat trick with his third goal in the 59th minute. Then in the 74th minute Snell put the match out of reach with his second goal, giving the Cobras a 5-1 victory.

The Cobras will return to action next week when they begin a two-match road trip at Catawba on Saturday (Oct. 4). Kick-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
