Coker Tops Lenoir-Rhyne 2-1

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker Cobra men's soccer team picked up a big 2-1 South Atlantic Conference win over the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears on Wednesday (Sept. 24) night.

The Cobras jumped out to an early 1-0 lead thanks to a beautiful goal by Matt Taylor in the sixth minute of action. Nine minutes later the Bears snuck a shot past the Coker defense to even the match at one.

Coker would not be out done as they continued to apply heavy offensive pressure that led to the second, and eventual, game-winning goal. With a cross from Jordan Snell, Connor Norton-Baker sent the game-winning goal into the back of the net with 19 minutes left in the first half.

The second half of play had plenty of score chances for both sides, but neither team was able to break through the other's defenses. Kyndle Cobb finished the night with four saves in net for the Cobras.

The Cobras will return to action on Saturday (Sept. 27) at home against the Royals of Queens University of Charlotte. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Coker Soccer Field.
