Scrivens Lifts Coker Past Tusculum 1-0

GREENEVILLE, TENN. – Stephen Scrivens headed home the game-winning goal for the Coker Cobras in their 1-0 win over the Tusculum Pioneers on Sunday (Oct. 27) afternoon. With the win the Cobras improve to 7-5-2 overall and 5-4-1 in the South Atlantic Conference.

Although only one goal was scored, the Cobras dominated the match controlling the game from start to finish. They rattled off 13 shots and held the Pioneers to just three.

The match seemed as if it might go into overtime with neither team scoring after 72 minutes of action. However, Scrivens broke standoff with a header off a cross from Noah Gulley in the 73rd minute to give the Cobras the 1-0 lead and eventual win. 

Kyndle Cobb earned his third shutout of the season with two saves between the pipes.

Coker returns to the pitch on Wednesday (Oct. 30) for a non-conference match against Flagler at home. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. The Cobras will be hosting Pause for Paws night during the match with all proceeds going to the Darlington County Humane Society.
