MARS HILL, N.C. – Freshman Noah Gulley scored the game-winning goal for the Cobras in their 1-0 win over Mars Hill on Saturday (Oct. 12) in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action. With the win Coker improves to 5-4-2 overall and 3-2-2 in the SAC.
After 80 minutes of scoreless play, Gulley broke the stalemate when he put a through ball past the Mars Hill goalkeeper. The goal, Gulley's first of his collegiate career, came off a pass from fellow classmate Chris Martin.
The Cobras and the Lions both took 11 shots on goal during the match, with Coker keeper Mark Nankervis making five saves, earning his second clean sheet of the season.
Coker will return home for its next match at 7 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 19) against Carson-Newman College. The Cobras will be hosting Emmanuel Christian School Night. Emmanuel faculty, staff and students will receive free admission to both the men's and women's matches.
