Recinos Leads Coker to 2-1 Victory Over Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. – Senior Carlos Recinos led the Cobra men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Anderson University by scoring a goal and assisting on another on Wednesday afternoon. The win improves the Cobras to an even 2-2 on the year.

It was a fairly even match between the Cobras and the Trojans, but Coker was first to strike as Kevin Arellana took a pass from Recinos and split the defense right down the middle on his way to a goal in the 13th minute of the game.

The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Cobras until Lars Zimmerman found the back of the net in the final minute of the opening period, tying the game at one.

It was a defensive battle for most of the second half, but a one-timer in the box by Recinos from Fernando Bedoya in the 73rd minute broke the deadlock and gave the Cobras the eventual 2-1 win.

This was the final non-conference meeting between Anderson and Coker, as the Cobras move to the South Atlantic Conference next season.

Coker returns to the pitch on Tuesday for its first Conference Carolinas match of the season. The Cobras travel to King College for a 4 p.m. kick-off.
