Cobras Shut Out Trojans 4-0

Coker defeated Mount Olive 4-0, off of two Carlos Recinos (Houston, Texas) goals, extending their winning streak to eight in a row in their Conference Carolinas men's soccer match on Tuesday night.

Recinos scored twice for Coker and added an assist of his own.  His first goal came from a blast inside the 18 yard box (A: R. Fondin, 19:39).  His second came on an airborne one-timer (A: R. Fondin, 32:45).  It wasn't until half way through the second half that the Cobras would strike again, this time off the foot of junior Eric Stiefield (Eustis, Fla.).  Stiefield put together a long run up the left side and uncorked a shot that eluded freshman keeper Kyle Lavender (Cary, N.C.) (A: C. Recinos, 73:12).  Junior Niko Tirkkonen (Hollola, Finland) finished the scoring for Coker with a breakaway goal (A: M. Taylor, 85:55) to finish out the match.

Junior keeper James Sweeney (Huntingtown, Md.) made six saves for the Cobras and earned his second clean sheet of the season.

Mount Olive freshman keeper Kyle Lavender made ten saves, including seven in the second half.  Mount Olive took seven total shots and managed to put six of the seven on net.

Mount Olive's record falls to 4-7, 3-2 in conference play.  Coker is now 9-1, 6-0 in Conference Carolinas matches.

Coker's next game will be at UNC-Pembroke on Friday night at 7 p.m.
