Three Second Half Goals Give Cobras Sixth Straight Win

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Three second half goals propelled the Coker men's soccer team to their sixth straight victory on Wednesday night as the Cobras defeated King College 3-0 in Conference Carolinas men's soccer action.

The win improved the Cobras to a perfect 4-0 in conference play and 6-1 overall. King 2-4-1 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

After a slow first half of play the Cobras exploded for three goals in a span of 15 minutes in the second half to take home the win.

The first Coker goal came off the foot of Carlos Recinos (Houston, Texas) in the 51st minute of play. Recinos blasted a shot from outside the 18 yard box past the Tornado keeper Stefan Kwiatkoski off an assist from Stephen Scrivens (Tampa, Fla.). Three minutes later Rommel Fondin (Palm Bay, Fla.) made it a 2-0 game. Fondin received a pass from Noah Lascell (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) and with his back to the goal flipped the ball over his head and the defender, only to nail the one-timer in the back of the net.

Finally in the 66th minute Jordan Snell (Palm Bay, Fla.) put the proverbial nail in the coffin with a blast from nearly 30 yards out  with an assist from Tony Quiroz (Miami, Fla.) to make it a 3-0 match.

James Sweeney (Huntingtown, Md.) and Mark Nankervis (Virginia Beach, Va.) combined on the shut out  with two saves each.

The Cobras will be back on the pitch on Saturday at 4 p.m. for the 2011 Homecoming match against Pfeiffer University.
