Pair of First Half Goals Lead to Cobras Victory

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Two first half goals were enough to propel the Coker men's soccer team to a 2-1 Conference Carolinas victory over North Greenville on Tuesday night. The win improves the Cobras to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

North Greenville was first to strike with a goal in the 13th minute from Jonathan Restrepo. The Cobras quickly answered with the equalizer less than a minute later from Atticus Lum (Advance, N.C.).

The Cobras scored the eventual game winner in 26th minute when Stephen Scrivens (Tampa, Fla.) found the back of the net with an assist from Carlos Recinos (Houston, Texas).

Coker played solid defense in the second half to hold on for the win. Goalkeeper James Sweeney (Huntingtown, Md.) made three saves in the match,  two of which came in the second half.

The men will be back on the field Saturday when they travel to Charlotte, N.C. to take on the Royals of Queens University of Charlotte at 5 p.m.
