Men’s Lacrosse Drops Road Contest to No. 3 Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, N.C. - The Coker College men's lacrosse team (7-7) dropped a road contest to the No. 3 Lenoir-Rhyne Bears 15-7 Saturday (Apr. 21) afternoon to conclude their regular season schedule.

After a slow start, the Cobras recorded four-straight goals from the second to third quarter to bring the score to 9-5 in favor of Lenoir-Rhyne. Brooks Long (2), DeShaun Ormond, and Matt Murphy scored during the run. However, the Bears controlled the rest of the third and fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Long and Denton Wilks led the Cobras offensively with two points each. Long finished the day with two goals, while Wilks recorded one goal and one assist. Defensively, Ormond led the Navy and Gold, causing a team-best two turnovers and scooping up two ground balls. Additionally, Charles Stafford and Justin Hopkins gathered two ground balls each.

The Cobras will be back in action on Tuesday (Apr. 24) for the SAC Championship quarterfinals. Coker will wait for results around the conference to determine their seed.
