Cobras Host Conference Foe Mars Hill Sunday Afternoon

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's lacrosse team will host South Atlantic Conference foe Mars Hill University on Sunday (Apr. 2) afternoon at the Coker Athletic Field. Opening faceoff is set for 3 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Navy and Gold enter tomorrow's game with a 3-6 overall record and a 1-3 mark in conference play. Throughout the 2017 season, Coker has recorded victories over Chowan (16-7), Brevard (5-3), and Shorter (11-7).  Leading the charge offensively for the Cobras this season has been Vinny Magro. The freshman attackman from Sugar Hill, Ga. has netted 15 goals and dished out five assists for a team-high 20 points. Other players who have made significant contributions to Coker's scoring attack are Garrett Kilgore (13g, 1a), Rylee Marsh (8g, 5a), and Denton Wilks (7g, 5a). 

Defensively, Austin Holgate has caused problems for the opposition's offense with a team-best 11 caused turnovers. In addition, the long stick midfielder has tallied an impressive seven goals this season. Between the pipes, Anthony Malik has collected 91 saves, good for fifth in the South Atlantic Conference.

Mars Hill comes into tomorrow's game sporting a 2-5 overall record and a 0-4 mark in conference competition. The two victories that the Lions have earned were over Pfeiffer (13-10) and Shorter (18-6). Senior midfielder Alex Lipsky leads Mars Hill offensively with 17 goals and six assists for 23 points.

Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
