Coker's Rendon to Play in American Lacrosse Cup

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – A Coker College men's lacrosse player is taking his talents to the international stage. Rising sophomore Jio Rendon is a member of the Colombian national lacrosse team and he will be competing in the first-ever American Lacrosse Cup hosted by the Federation of International Lacrosse and the Mexican Lacrosse Federation in Mexico City, July 21-26.

"I am very excited for Jio to get to represent not only Coker lacrosse, but the entire Colombian nation," said Coker head coach David Olliver. "This is a great opportunity for him to see some top level competition and help grow the sport of lacrosse worldwide."

Rendon, a native of Myrtle Beach, S.C., will take the field as a midfielder for the Colombian national team and he will compete against teams from Argentina, Chile, and Mexico. The mission behind the American Lacrosse Cup is to help grow the sport of lacrosse throughout Central and South America.

The first test for Colombia will be on July 22 against the host Mexico. On July 23, they will take on Argentina and their final pool play game will be on July 24 against Chile. The semifinals will take place on July 25, with the finals taking place on July 26.
