Cobras and Pioneers Clash in Senior Day SAC Showdown

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's lacrosse team will be back in action on Friday (Apr. 3) at 4 p.m. to take on the Tusculum College Pioneers in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. The match will be the first ever to take place on campus as the game will be played at the Coker College Soccer Field. Live stats and broadcast will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Navy and Yellow went a perfect 6-0 in the month of March and a win against the Pioneers could propel them to the top of the SAC standings.

The Cobras will look to continue their balanced offensive attack led by SAC offensive player of the week Josh Smith. Smith has a team-high 20 goals to go along with 10 assists adding up to 30 total points on the season. Mike Martiello has 28 points on 16 goals and 12 assists. Rylee Marsh and Josh Wassum have 23 point a piece. Marsh has 10 goals and 13 assists, while Wassum has 16 goals and seven assists. Shane Wilson has netted 17 goals and dished out three assists in route to a 20-point season thus far. John Bretton comes in with 16 points on 15 goals and one assist.

Reigning SAC defensive player of the week Tim Ryan will look to continue his stellar play between the pipes. Ryan is third in conference in both goals allowed (93) and goals against per game (9.95).

The Pioneers travel to Hartsville with a 3-6 overall and a 2-4 SAC record. They are led by Nate Wade and his 15 goals and five assists.

Friday's game will also be senior day for the 8 seniors that make up the Cobras roster. They are Bretton, Sean Buff, Dylan Marks, Ryan Vento, Mikey Mazzola, Michael Mobley, John Elliot and Ryan.

Game is set for 4 p.m. at the Coker College Soccer Field. Tickets for the match are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
