Ryan Comes Up Huge in Coker's 11-10 OT Victory Over Lynn

BOCA RATON, FLA. – The Coker men's lacrosse team picked up a thrilling 11-10 non-conference victory over the Lynn University Fighting Knights on Tuesday (Mar. 10) afternoon.

Coker and Knights would play a competitive first period, but the Cobras would win the frame, 2-1. Coker would take a 5-2 lead into the break after tallying three goals and only allowing one in the second period. The Knights would make a comeback in the third, tying the score at 7-all, but Coker would answer with two goals to take a 9-7 lead into the final period.

The Knights would use a 3-1 run in the fourth to knot the game at 10-all and force overtime. However, the Cobras would weather the storm, as Josh Smith would net the game-winner with three minutes left in overtime.

Smith finished with four goals and one assist to lead the Cobra offense. Josh Wassum would tally four points on three goals and one assist. Mike Martiello would add two goals and one assist, while Rylee Marsh netted one goal and one assist on the day. John Bretton would find the back of the net once and Ryan Vento would hand out one assist. Defensively, Tim Ryan was on fire for the Navy and Yellow, finishing the game with 16 saves and 11 ground balls in 60 minutes between the pipes.

Coker will return home for its next game on Saturday (Mar. 14), as they host the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University in South Atlantic Conference action. Face-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Byerly Park.
