Coker Notches 18-9 SAC Victory over Lincoln Memorial

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's lacrosse team picked up an 18-9 South Atlantic Conference win over Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday (Mar. 7) afternoon. The win improves the Cobras to 2-1 in the SAC.

The game would never be in question, as the Cobras led 11-5 after the first two periods. Coker would tag on seven more goals in the second half, while the stifling defense would only allow four in the last two periods.

Mike Martiello led the way with six points on two goals and four assists, while John Bretton and Rylee Marsh each netted three goals and an assist on the day. Shane Wilson found the back of the net three times and Ryan Vento added two goals of his own. Mikey Mazzola and Nick Maddox both scored one goal and handed out on assist, while Josh Smith, Austin Holgate and Colin Caristi all netted one goal apiece. Adam Zinsmeister and DeShaun Ormond handed out two and one assist, respectively.

Defensively, John Elliott caused three turnovers and picked up five ground balls for the Cobras.

The Cobras will hit the road for Florida, as they travel to Lynn University for a non-conference tilt on Tuesday (Mar. 10). The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
