Coker’s Campos and Bretton Sweep Inaugural SAC Lacrosse Weekly Awards

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College lacrosse players Andy Campos and John Bretton have been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, the league office announced today. Campos and Bretton are the first-ever Coker lacrosse award winners in the sport in conference history and the first Coker duo to sweep the SAC weekly awards in any sport since the school joined the conference in 2013.

In the season opener against Shorter University, Campos tallied six goals and five assists for 11 points, good enough to tie two Coker lacrosse single-game records. Campos' strong outing led the Cobras to a 22-15 victory.

On the season, Campos has six goals and five assists for a total of 11 points. His goals, assists and points are all good for first in the SAC statistical standings.

A senior from Los Angeles, Calif., Campos is a business administration major with a concentration in sport management. He is the son of Veronica Campos.

Bretton picked up three ground balls and scored a goal in Coker's victory at Shorter. The midfielder attempted seven shots and keyed the Cobras' defensive effort that limited Shorter to a .313 shot percentage.

Bretton, a junior, has one goal and three ground balls on the season.

Originally from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Bretton is a physical education and sport studies major with a concentration in exercise science. He is the son of John and Michelle Bretton.
