Coker Takes Care of the Bobcats with Ease, 18-3

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Fourteen different Coker players registered at least one point, as the Cobras dominated the Lees-McRae Bobcats to earn an 18-3 Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse victory on Saturday (Apr. 13).

Lees-McRae found the back of the net first with a pair of goals in the first quarter, but Steven Zolezzi scored two goals in the final minute of the quarter to tie the game. The Bobcats took a 3-2 lead with a goal in the second, but that would be the last time Lees-McRae would be allowed to score as Coker rattled off 16 unanswered goals over the next two and half quarters.

Included in Coker's 18 goals were seven man-up tallies. As a team the Cobras fired 67 shots at the Bobcat cage and picked up 43 ground balls.

Keith LaClair and Steve Marciano both recorded hat tricks to lead the Cobra attack. Ryan Maurer, Adam Zinsmeister, Mike Martiello and Zolezzi each netted a pair of goals, while John Bretton, Joshua Taylor, Ryan Vento and Timothy Smith each scored a goal.

Maurer dished out a team leading five assists, while LaClair and Andy Campos handed out three assists each. Also handing out an assist were Shane Wilson, Mikey Mazzola, Deondre Parks, Marciano, Vento and Zolezzi.

Josh Masciarelli made 11 saves and allowed just three goals to earn the win in the net for the Cobras.

Coker closes out the season winning its last three games in row to finish with a record of 5-10.
